Students in Ms. Vaughn and Mrs. Mandi’s classes had Camp Read a Lot today. Students completed camping theme activities and assignments in reading and math classes. They each had their own special “tents” and got to eat S’mores, too!

Students in Ms. Vaughn’s and Mrs. Mandi’s classes ended their study of matter today by making chocolate no bake cookies in class. Students read a recipe and directions, helped put ingredients in a pot to make a mixture, then watched as heat changed the solids to a liquid. They also observed how the liquid changed form back into solid cookies as they cooled. Best of all, students got to eat their cookies! It was a fun learning project!

The students were able to dress like a Star Wars character, have special theme snacks and Star Wars “brain break activities”. They also read about Star Wars Characters and did some fun Star Wars theme ELA and Math center activities. They even had a special Star Wars character guest reader!

Hawkins County Voluntary Pre-K (VPK) applications open soon! VPK helps students build the social and emotional skills needed to succeed in Kindergarten and beyond.

✅ Eligibility:
Birthdays between August 16, 2021, and August 15, 2022.
Income qualifications apply for VPK (additional inclusive programs available for those who don't meet requirements).

BRIM Anti-Bullying introduction for Hawkins County Schools
Ms. Vaughn’s ELA classes wrapped up TCAP week by participating in a fun Titanic Escape Room Activity. Students read about the Titanic, answered comprehension questions, and worked with partners to complete the activity. They all had fun and learned a lot.

Mr. Odom, Mrs. Drinnon, Mrs. Needham, and Mrs. Chloe's class celebrated the end of their writing unit! They spent two weeks learning facts about dogs or cats and how to take care of them. They got a visit from the Hawkins County Humane Society before they adopted their "pet".
